Dr. Ian
MacFawn
Dr.
MacFawn is a graduate of Western Maryland college in Westminster, MD,
and the University of Bologna School of Veterinary Medicine in Bologna,
Italy. He came to Allegany County in 1986 after having practiced for
four-and-a half years at the Westminster Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. MacFawn is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association,
the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the D.C. Academy of
Veterinary Medicine and the American Animal Hospital Association.
His veterinary practice has grown from a mobile farm and house call
business to a full-service animal hospital staffed with a total of five
veterinarians and 30 support personnel. Personal attention to clients
and their pets has been Dr. MacFawn's top priority since he began his
practice.

Dr. James
Cosgrove
Dr.
James Cosgrove returned to his hometown after graduating from the
Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. After
working at Allegany Animal Hospital for 2 years, he joined the medical
team at LaVale Veterinary Hospital in 1996. He and Dr. MacFawn formed a
partnership in 2002.
Dr. Cosgrove is a member of the American Veterinary Medical
Association, the Maryland Veterinary Medical Association, the D.C.
Academy of Veterinary Medicine and the American Animal Hospital
Association.
An avid football fan, Dr. Cosgrove especially enjoys rooting for his
Alma Mater, Virginia Tech. GO HOKIES!

Dr. Jason
Griffith
Dr. Jason Griffith received a degree
in Biology from Wheeling Jesuit University in 1993. He received his
veterinary degree in 1997 from Ohio State University and began working
at LaVale Veterinary Hospital four days later. He is a member of the
American and West Virginia Veterinary Medical Associations.
Dr. Griffith is an avid sports fan whose favorite teams are the West
Virginia Mountaineers, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Steelers, Penguins,
and Pirates. He enjoys participating in fantasy football and baseball.
His greatest passion is for running, and is a marathon veteran. He
especially enjoys running in the ultra-marathons, whose distances are 50
miles or greater!

Dr. Kelly
Malec
Dr. Kelly Malec received her degree in Animal Science from Virginia Tech in 1999. She also completed coursework and participated in research on the subject of Equine Nutrition from 1999-2001. Dr. Malec graduated from the Virginia/Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She has a special interest in internal medicine.
Some of you may recognize her face because this is her hometown and Dr. Malec worked at LaVale Veterinary Hospital during the summer months of 1996-1999.
Dr. Malec enjoys spending time with her family and working at the barn with her horses, calves, goats and chickens.

Dr.
Brigette McGhay-Cosgrove
Dr. Brigette McGhay-Cosgrove is a 1994
graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary
Medicine. She started her veterinary career at LaVale
Veterinary Hospital
following graduation. She has worked here on and off for the last 11
years, taking time off to have children, explore emergency medicine, and
get her MBA from Frostburg State University. She is a
member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Maryland
Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital
Association. Dr. McGhay has a special interest in ultrasonography and
acupuncture.
In her time off, she raises and
shows American Paint horses. |

Dr. Kristie Hensel
Dr. Kristie Hensel is a 2007 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to that, she received her degree in Biology from Frostburg State University and also attended the University of Maryland while working at the United States Department of Agriculture.
She is a member of the Maryland Veterinary Association. She enjoys playing volleyball at the YMCA and softball with her fiancee'. Most of all, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family , and pets (2 dogs and 5 cats!).
